Eugène Gallois (1856-1916) was a tireless traveler, who traveled all around the world. Traveling initially for pleasure, he was gradually interested countries placed under colonial domination. During his various journeys, Gallois, a consummate artist, prolific writer and insatiably curious, produced and collected documents of all kinds on the countries he crossed. The corpus, composed of drawings, watercolors and photographs, was presented upon his return during exhibitions or conferences with projections of images of his own, organized by colonial institutions and by learned societies.
